The Economic and Business History Society (EBHS) is now accepting proposals for our 43rd Annual Conference, to be held from May 30 to June 2, 2018, at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Call for Papers is open until February 15, 2018. Our general theme is Early Modern Origins of Growth and Business. However, proposals for presentations on any aspect of ancient to recent economic, social or business history are welcome, as are proposals for whole panels. We welcome submissions from graduate students and non-academic affiliates.

The keynote speaker will be Deirdre N. McCloskey, Distinguished Professor of Economics, History, English, and Communication, University of Illinois at Chicago, and the plenary speaker Uskali Mäki, Academy Professor and Professor of Practical Philosophy, University of Helsinki. Both have astounding merits in combining economics, history, and philosophy in their work.

The Economic and Business History Society (EBHS) is now accepting proposals for our 41th Annual Conference, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel downtown Montreal (May 26-28, 2016).

The EBHS conference offers participants the opportunity for intellectual interchange with an international, interdisciplinary, and collegial group of scholars. In addition to the sessions, we will be organizing some social activities that should be of interest to all participants.

The Economic and Business History Society (EBHS) will hold its 40th annual conference at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

The keynote speaker at the conference dinner will be Professor Jeffrey Williamson, Laird Bell Professor of Economics, Emeritus, Harvard University.

In addition to the sessions, we will be organizing some social activities that should be of interest to all participants. These include a riverboat cruise on the mighty Mississippi and a trip to the ballpark for dinner and a prime seat in the Lumberyard, home of the La Crosse Loggers of the Northwoods League; for those interested in good minor league baseball, more information may be found at http://northwoodsleague.com/. Of course, in keeping with the collegial nature of EBHS, there will be ample opportunity for informal social activities, and La Crosse has no shortage of great options.

The Economic and Business History Society (EBHS) will hold our 38th annual conference on May 23 - 25, 2013, at the Tremont Plaza Hotel and Grand Historic Venue in Baltimore, Maryland.

The conference will include a keynote address by historian Louis Galambos and a guided tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Self-guided tours of the nearby Mount Vernon cultural and historic district are available, and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor is a short walk away. The sessions will take place in an opulent former Masonic temple that is connected to the hotel by walkway. The hotel is an award-winning boutique hotel with a kitchenette and free wireless Internet in every room.
